Frankfort Community Park
Adding the Aquatic & Activities Center
In 2003, group of concerned citizens began to investigate the possibility of an indoor activity center in the city park and eventually they were successful in obtaining the initial financing for the project. Since its construction, the facility has enriched the community’s quality of life, health & wellness and has become a wonderful asset for West Frankfort and the surrounding area.
Event Center
(Gobel Patton Event Center) Our Event Center seats approximately 250 people. Comfortable chairs and tables are provided. There is also a spacious kitchen area for food preparation or catering services. If you need the event center and wish to include the gym, combination rentals are available.
In the Park
Shelters In our park, shelters are available free of charge on a first come, first serve basis. All of our shelters include tables and grills. Two of our larger shelters are available to rent for special occasions . . . call the park for reservations and additional information.
Playgrounds There are four playground areas that make the park fun for all ages near picnic shelters providing a safe and convenient site for family outings.
Pond & Trail A mile long trail winds through our beautiful park. When the weather is just too good to resist, take a jog around the park!! Or, walk at your leisure and enjoy the scenery . . . including a 3-acre pond that's home to a variety of fish, ducks, and turtles. (Fishing is allowed year round)
Sports Fields and Courts in the park: Sports fields and courts in the park area include . . . two Tennis Courts . . . two basketball court . . . six baseball fields . . . two softball fields . . . tee ball fields . . . two concession stands plus convenient parking areas throughout the park.
